Matthew Valenti, professor in the Lane Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering, has been named a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. IEEE is the world’s largest technical professional organization whose mission is to encourage its members to revolutionize technology for the benefit of humanity.
Valenti, a member of IEEE for 20 years, was selected for his contributions to cooperative diversity and development of distributed turbo codes. His research focuses on wireless communication networks and the development of protocols and signal coding techniques that enable mobile handsets to communicate with a base station.
